Actress Asin Thottumkal, who's lately been working round-the-clock, has been admitted to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital here following an acute sinus condition.

The Ghajini fame actress was admitted Monday morning. She was taken to Kokilaben hospital because it's close to her home in Andheri.

Though the actress herself was unavailable for comment, her father, who was with her in the hospital, said: "Yes she's in hospital. Nothing to worry about. All this is part of the process of my daughter's growing up."

Asin is expected to be out after treatment in a couple of days. But the news of her hospitalization on Eid was being whispered behind closed doors. Some said she was admitted after suffering from acute exhaustion.

"Asin was admitted to the Dhirubhai hospital... not for exhaustion but an acute sinus condition. She had been neglecting the condition for quite some time now. But now the sinus situation had to be attended to. But she was in great spirits, her usual chirpy and friendly self singing even as her treatment was being done," said a source close to Asin.

Her condition got aggravated because of the night shooting for London Dreams.

"She had no choice but to get into the hospital to have the condition treated. She waited until Eid when there was break from work," said the source.

Bollywood, ad films and public appearances - Asin is living out of her briefcase these days, literally. She was recently in Kerala to attend the party hosted by the Kerala government to felicitate the Malayalis who made it big outside the state. Among the invitees were the Oscar winner Resul Pookutty and Parvathy Omanakuttan. Asin’s Kerala visit also has another purpose. She is stretching her muscles for learning the martial art Kalaripayyittu for her movie 19 Steps. Directed by Bharath Bala, the movie also has Kamal Haasan playing a pivotal role.

Briefly addressing the journalists and posing for the shutterbugs, Asin answered a few posers. She declared that she never felt satisfied with her acting skills. “Acting does not run in my genes since I’m the first one in my family to try the profession,” Asin added. She shunned theories that South Indian talents are not welcome in Bollywood. “I strongly believe that talent can get you anywhere,” she said.

Kalaimamani honor for Asin

The Tamil Nadu government today announced the list of personalities who have been selected for the Kalaimamani honor for excellence in the fields of art and literature. The list consists of 70 prominent personalities from various fields of arts. The awardees from cinema comprise of actors Sundar C, Bharath, Vaiyapuri, director-actor Cheran, actresses Asin, Nayanthara, Meera Jasmine and Shobhana. Apart from the screen artistes, composer Harris Jeyaraj, producer and theater owner Abhirami.

Ramanathan have also been chosen for the honor. Another notable name in the list is Aishwarya Rajinikanth.

When Vipul Shah announced his next film London Dreams with its original star cast Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan everyone thought that his favorite Katrina will be part of it. But Vipul was quite clear about his star cast and when it came to the leading lady of the film, Katrina was not at all in his mind. It is now confirmed that after a lot of auditions Vipul has finalized south fame Asin for London Dreams . Asin is the chosen one who will be seen opposite Aamir Khan in A.R. Murugadoss’s Ghajini . Asin, who is awaiting the release of magnum opus ‘Dasavatharam’ opposite Kamal Haasan, says, “My heart beats for Kollywood and I would love to do Tamil movies more”.

Asin is currently acting in the Hindi remake of ‘Ghajini’ and reports suggested that she would bid bye to Tamil filmdom to concentrate on a career in Hindi.

However Asin, who was in Chennai recently for the audio launch of ‘Dasavatharam’, said, 'I would love to do Tamil movies. It is here that I rose to fame. I would continue to act in Tamil'.

Meanwhile when queried about ‘Dasavatharam’, she said, ''I am part of history now and I had the experience of a lifetime which no one can take away from me”.

On her experiences working with Kamal, she says, “When you work with Kamal Haasan, who is an institution of his own, your energy levels shoot up to a different plane altogether”

The genesis for Dasavatharam began with Kamal revisiting Sivaji Ganesan in Navarathari, where the thespian donned nine roles, triggering an entirely different narrative in our thespian’s fertile head, giving rise to ten roles set around the globe!

The first version of Dasavatharam was written in the U.S, when Kamal was shooting for Vettaiyadu Vellaiyadu.

Kamal on the plot: “Synthetic bio weapons, research and analysis wing, Kulothunga’s distaste for Vedanta, and Chaos theory!”

The plot of Dasavatharam: When things start going wrong in a synthetic bio weapons lab in Washington DC, various international organizations became key players in a global cloak and dagger game. The White House, the CIA, the Indian PM’s office, environmentalists, terrorists, and other key players become part of a dangerous global hunt. Starting in the 12th century A.D. in the Chidambaram Temple complex in South India, the film will take you on a roller coaster ride across time and continents. Michael Westmore: make up effects man for First Blood, Rocky, Indian, Avai Shanmugi, does his most brilliant work here for Kamal – ten different guises, turning him into the President of the United States alone took six hours.

Kollywood’s protest on Karnataka’s stance on the Hogenakkal issue, witnessed a huge turnout. Almost all the biggies in Kollywood, including Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan made it to the event, except a few who could not make it due to short notice and prior commitments. Although the absentees were asked to give an explanation for their absence, Asin seemed to have ignored it. Having given the actress enough notice, the Nadigar Sangam planned to initiate action against her. Meanwhile, the Malabar beauty has sent a letter of apology stating that her commitment as the brand ambassador of a popular brand forbade her from partaking in the fasting. With just a couple of days left for the audio launch of the magnum-opus ‘Dasavadharam’, Asin is all thrilled and is eagerly awaiting the D-day.

'I have done a prominent character in ‘Dasavadharam’. It is very close to my heart. Sharing the screen with such a great actor in indeed a great privilege. I am very much thrilled that I am going to see Jackie Chan and other prominent personalities during the audio launch,' says Asin.

Asin said, 'I am just biting my nails with all eagerness.'

‘Dasavadharam’: The wonder of Kamal’s Avatars

It is surprising to see director K.S. Ravikumar, the easy going guy, getting so excited. He could not control his enthusiasm when he talks about the film and of course, Kamal Haasan’s avatars.

The director says that he is not in the film just for the money. The film is so special to him that his commitment towards the film goes beyond the factors like money. According to him Kamal was unidentifiable even at the shooting spot. "People used to come to the sets looking for him. Except me no one would know that he is right in front of them”, says the director.

K.S. Ravikumar gives a detailed account of Computer Graphics work. “95 percent of the film involves Computer Graphics. It is required wherever we try to bring together the different characters played by a same person. When the five characters in a particular shot are played by one person, we need to shoot them separately and then bring them together in one scene by means of graphics”.

As far as the stunts are concerned, “we have used motion cameras to shoot certain stunts," K.S. Ravikumar informs.

The tsunami scene is among the special scenes in the movie. The experience of shooting the scene was quite terrible. "While shooting the tsunami scene," Ravikumar recalls, "the gush of water was opened, and the actors were out of sight in a flash of a second. We didn’t expect the water to come gushing out so forcefully; I was caught completely off guard." It took time for the whole unit to recover from the shock.

‘Dasavadharam’ is undoubtedly shaping up as one of the most exciting experiences that have ever happened on Indian screen.

Asin gets busy in bollywood !

Gajini will remain the Hindi remake title confirmed director Murugadoss. The Hindi version, he said, is taking on epic proportion because of Aamir’s participation. In Tamil it was a small but effective thriller. The Hindi remake, however, will be a mega thriller that an audience all over India will be impressed by.

Murugadoss added that he doubted if Asin would come back to act in South Indian films because of the myriad offers from Bollywood. She has so many heroine roles on offer that she has to decline many of them, he said. He said something else that is really surprising: apparently Aamir is stunned at how dedicated and talented Asin is. Her acting on the sets impressed Aamir Khan so much, he laughed and quipped to the director. “It’s just possible that she will even outdo me in Gajini!”

Avatharudu' in theatres from April 4th!

This is a time for remakes. Not only are films in the neighbouring states and languages remade but this has become a success formula throughout the country.

Well, 'Avatharudu' is a remake of the Tamil film 'Alwaar' that had Ajith and Asin playing the lead pair. In telugu the film has been remade under the 'Shalini Cine Creations' banner. 'Avatharudu' has been directed by Super Subbharayan and produced by Y.V.Shetty.

The producer has confirmed that the film will hit theatres this April 4th. While speaking on this film the producer also stated that the hero will surprise the audience with a variety of appearences, and this will be the most important feature of the film.

'Avatharudu' features five songs - one of which has been shot in the snow-peaked mounts of Himalayas, two more songs have been shot in Malayasia and Singapore.

The director of this film being a stunt choreographer, the audience can definitely expect dare-devil stunt sequences in the film.

The music of Srikanth Deva has proved a hit in the Tamil version, and lets hope history is repeated in Telugu as well.

Dasavatharam release date announced!

We looked forward to a Deepavali release, and when that didn't happen, we hoped for Pongal. Like the now legendary ten roles Kamal will play in Dasavatharam, we began to wonder if the film's release too would acquire myriad release dates! Meanwhile, we had to be content hearing the entire buzz the movie was creating: the fabulous make-up involved, the spectacular stunts, and second guessing which heroine will be paired against which avatharam. But the suspense is over now; the release date of what is perhaps the most awaited movie of the year has finally been officially announced.

Dasavatharam will hit theatres on April 10, 2008. But wait – there's a hotter buzz. The total prints for release numbers to an astounding 1200. Never in the history of Tamil movies has there been so many prints made for a movie. The movie is set to release not just all over South India (Tamilnadu: 275 prints, Andhra: 225, Kerala: 75, Karnataka: 75) but also all over North India with 300 Hindi prints. Prints going overseas total 250. All this could only mean that Kamal knows for certain that in Dasavatharam he has a blockbuster that will outdo everything else lined up this year.

Asin, has moved lock, stock and barrel from her Harrington Road apartment in Chennai to her Lokhandwala flat, Andheri west in Mumbai. Tamil cinema's 'numero uno' heroine of 2007 has decided to take the most crucial career move in her life, by shifting to Mumbai!

Is the queen of Kollywood abdicating her throne? Well it looks like that, at the moment. She has only one Tamil film coming up for release, Dasavatharam in the summer of 2008. Asin has not signed a single Tamil film this year, which means she is unlikely to have another release next year.

Meanwhile the smart girl that she is now becoming a Mumbaikar! You can spot her frequently at the posh Infinity mall near her apartment or at PVR's Juhu multiplex. She is just catching up with the latest in fashion and also watching all new releases in Bollywood and picking up the finer points. Last week Asin and her family were spotted at PVR, catching up with the Ajit- Nayanthara film Billa!

Last Sunday evening Asin was the cynosure of all Bollywood stars at the sneak preview of Aamir Khan's Tara Zameen Par. Everybody was keen to have a look at Aamir's new heroine; after all he is the hero who has introduced iconic heroines like Rani Mukerjee, Juhi Chawla and Pooja Bhat.

Asin is now finishing the Hindi Ghajani with Aamir, which is likely to release in the summer of 2008. It is Aamir's first commercial masala movie after a long time and if it clicks Asin will straightaway enter the 'A' league of actresses in Bollywood. As of now the actress is flooded with offers in Hindi and is considering three big Hindi films.

She is being offered to be cast opposite the hot and happening young Bollywood hero Shahid Kapoor in his new film to be directed by Ken Ghosh. Another role that is exciting Asin, is to play Amitabh Bachchan's daughter in writer-director Honey Irani's new project on the emotional relationship between a father and daughter. And another project that is waiting for her is a new Salman Khan musical entertainer to be directed by his brother Sohail Khan.

But Asin on her part is in no hurry to sign any films till the shoot of Ghajani is over. She has used her own voice in the film which is being shot with sync sound. The actress is also working hard on her Hindi diction, as she is very particular that she dubs in her own voice for all her Hindi films. Asin, the Kochi girl has made herself accessible to Bollywood and is on the right track to superstardom by moving to Mumbai.

Exit Lekha Washington, enter Asin: this is the latest news from
the `Kettavan' Unit!

At the muhurat of his latest film `Silambattam', Silambarasan said
that he had made many changes in `Kettavan'. He evaded the question
when asked whether the heroine Lekha was shown the door.

Reliable sources, however, reveal that Silambarasan has decided to
remove Lekha and rope in Asin in `Kettavan'.

It is known to everyone that Silambarasan is planning to re-start the
shooting of `Kettavan' only after finishing `Kaalai'
and `Silambaattam'. The original producers too have opted out of the
project and it will be produced under the banner of V. Ravichandran's
Oscar Films.

When Oscar Ravichandran approached Vijaya T. Rajendhar for Simbu's
call-sheet for a new film, it appears that T.R. told him to take
over `Kettavan' instead of launching a new film with Simbu in the
lead. It is said that Ravichandran had even agreed to and returned
the Rs.3 crores of money that the previous producer of `Kettavan' had
spent.

Insiders disclose that Simbu's sudden change of mind towards the VJ
turned actor Lekha is the main reason for all the aforesaid changes.
Add to this Silambarasan's new found liking for Asin and you know
what all the fuss is about. Feelers have been sent to Asin to
persuade her to accept the offer.

One might think that Silambarasan is acting too big for his own
comfort. But he can afford to do so, given his current market value.
He is one of the leading saleable and bankable stars in the industry
and has been the distributors' darling for quite sometime now. It is
said that his market value is next only to Vijay and Ajith. Business
circles say that his Kaalai has fetched Rs. 18 crores.

So, Silambarasan enjoys the `luxury' of changing the heroine after
shooting more than 30 per cent of the movie. It might sound crazy but
that is what show biz is all about!

The D-day has finally arrived and with it comes Vel, one of the much-awaited movies of the festive season. Vel had everyone in the industry as well as the fans wondering whether the successful pair – Surya and Asin – could ignite the silver screen once again after their smash hit Gajini.

The movie has nothing new to offer and has all the aspects that one can expect of director Hari. It has shades of Hari’s earlier ventures all hashed up. Looks like the story has been inspired from good old movies, as its storyline is the stale twins-parted-during-childhood kind and how the family reunites, not to mention the villain somewhere out there wrecking vengeance.

As said earlier, one of the twins, played by Surya, is lost during childhood. A rich man from a village takes him under his care and brings him up, as his own son, naming him Shakthivel a.k.a Vel, who unaware of his true ancestry, grows up a village deary.

Meanwhile, heroine Asin learns about the existence of Vel and informs his twin, Vasu, a detective, who happens to live in the city with his mother. Vasu firmly believes that Vel is his brother and goes to the village to find out the truth. What ensues after this is the usual swapping of roles by the brothers to fight the villains and how the family reunites.

As usual, Surya has given his best. He looks relishing after a year long gap. Asin is her bubbly self as 7up Swathi, enjoying every bit of it. Vadivelu’s comedy is stale barring a few scenes. Music, scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja, is very average and if one expects it to bring in the crowds to the theatres, then they are in for a rude shock. Brindha and Kalyan’s choreography is very mediocre and has nothing worth mentioning. Nothing novel has been attempted by the cinematographer, Priyan, but the special effects are excellent, particularly in scenes where both the Suryas are shown together.

The movie, before the intermission drags on and on but the second half moves at a faster pace, thanks to the screenplay. But Hari could have made it even crispier.

Overall a usual predictable movie added with all the masala that the fans need for an entertainer.

After making heads turn, down south, the petite Asin is on her way to make her presence felt all over India. Recognized for her thorough professionalism and - not to mention - her acting prowess, Asin is associated with a few prestigious projects with some of the kingpins of the Indian film industry, Kamal Haasan and Aamir Khan to name a few.

Extracting time from her demanding schedule, she spoke to us on her past successes and future plans, shared her memorable experiences working with the bigwigs and answered lot more posers with her characteristic effortless charm. Excerpts from the interview.

Lets begin by asking this. Which has been your favorite film and which was the character closest to your heart out of the ones you have portrayed?

My favorite movie will always be Ghajini, because it gave me tremendous scope to perform. It was also the film that catapulted me into the big league. As for the character, it has to be Kalpana as it has many dimensions to it. She is innocent, mischievous, caring and very ambitious, an interesting and rare mix.

There are a lot of expectations for your Deepavali release Vel. How has it shaped up?

Vel has come out very well. I play the role of 7up Swathi in the film, an anchor for a TV channel in the lines of Pepsi Uma. It is a very interesting role and has come out really well. I can't reveal anymore than that, you will have to wait till Deepavali when it releases.

How was the Dasavatharam experience? Share your experiences working with Kamal?

Dasavatharam is a very big project and it has Kamal sir donning 10 different roles. I suppose nobody has ever done that before. I had earlier worked under K S Ravikumar's direction in Varalaaru and this time with Kamal sir also involved, it was a unique experience. It was fun on the sets, be it on camera or off, Kamal sir has such a good comic timing, he'd have you in splits. Truly an entertaining experience.

We know you can't reveal much about the film! But could you at least give our viewers a teaser about your role in the film?

True that I can't reveal much but all I can say is that I play the role of a Tanjore Iyengar girl, a role I haven't played before.

For more on the role, you will have to watch the movie when it releases on Deepavali. It is going to be definitely different from the roles I played for Pokkiri and Ghajini.

You are doing the Hindi remake of Ghajini! Why did you choose to make your Bollywood debut in a remake film and play the same role you did in the original?

I thought it would be the perfect vehicle to make my debut in Bollywood considering that it is a great script and that I am playing opposite Aamir Khan, one of Bollywood's top heroes. It has a great team comprising of a talented director like A R Murugadass, A R Rahman, Cinematographer Ravi K Chandran and editor Anthony, an offer too enticing for me to refuse.

How was the experience working with Aamir khan?

Aamir is such a dedicated artiste and a really down to earth person. It was indeed a pleasure working with him.

Have you been to any acting school?

I entered films while I was in school and got busy soon after and hence I didn't have the time to go to any acting school.

Critics have somehow said you are stuck with the Ghajini hangover and that you have more potential than that. Do you think so?

I would like to thank all those who have believed that I have more to deliver than I have already. As for the Ghajini hangover, I can't do much about it as the character of Kalpana in Ghajini is multi dimensional and no matter what role I play, it is bound to have some shades of Kalpana in it unless it is a completely out of the box kind of character. If something comes my way I’d be more than willing to grab it.

You have donned roles opposite almost every big star in Tamil and Telugu cinema and now you have stepped into Hindi too. Would u pick a movie by its star cast or its script? Also would you be open to act opposite fresh faces?

Yes, of course. If I am offered an interesting script and a meaty role I wouldn't hesitate, it is the script that finally matters.

Now that you have set foot in Bollywood do you intend settling there?

I have said this many a times in my interviews. Language has never been a criterion for selection of films; it is the role and the script. I shall continue doing movies in Tamil and other regional languages.

We have heard that you are the kind who'd pray when you see an Ambulance pass by! Is it an indication of your piousness or are you just being humane?

I developed this habit since I was a child. Whenever you see an ambulance or hear its siren you know that there is someone inside who is in danger and this act of mine is just a kind gesture, not an indication of being pious or religious whatsoever.

Vel – Music Review

After a long wait we get to hear songs of a Surya movie, the last time was the memorable Silunnu Oru Kadhal. This one is from a new combination trio of Surya, Hari and Yuvan. Be ready to be hit by a medley of folk numbers since the movie typical of Hari’s is set in rural milieu.

Ottraikannalae - Haricharan, Sucharitha. Lyrics - Hari

A song, that talks about the hero falling in love. A fast number spruced up by some simple rhythmic beats and straight forward lyrics. Quiet a trendy track with interesting instrumentation by Yuvan. Good scope for some exotic camera work. Possibly the one reserved for the lead pair’s Switzerland trip. Haricharan makes the most of the chance.

Kovakkare kiliye – Tippu, Sujatha. Lyrics - Na.Muthukumar

Another song that talks about trying to cajole a frustrated girl. Tippu as usual does a good job, though is in the danger of becoming too repetitive with such type of numbers. Sujatha's voice is refreshing but the beats don't seem to catch on. The use of stringed instruments and nadhaswaram in between does lend a different flavor. Has the potential to grow on the listener.

Indha Ooril - Shankar Mahadevan. Lyrics - Na.Muthukumar

A typical intro song with heavy percussions, a dominant udukai, a folk tune fused with some electric guitar pieces and Shankar Mahadevan to render it. As clichéd a song you can get. Shankar has now done this for every actor possible in the industry. One of the talented singers in the country, hope he shows more discretion in choosing songs from now on. Masses might take a liking to it, but what’s the point in churning out the same kind of songs over and over.

Aayiram Jannal - Vadivelu, Ragul, Premji. Lyrics - Na.Muthukumar

Seems to be a song sung by Surya, on the happy joint family and its constituents interlaced with comical lines rendered by Vadivel. Orchestration seems to be mish mash of wind instruments and folk beats. The lead singer Ragul has done his best. With some interesting lyrics, the song will depend on its choreography to take off. Nevertheless a good attempt.

Thoppul Kodi - Sriram. Lyrics - Hari

A two minute song, sung by the hero, on being neglected by his mother. There is also reference to tussle between the twin brothers. The only slow number in the film, Yuvan reminds you of his dad's legendary melodies. A sad song with native touch to it though sounds a little old fashioned on the flip side. Bolstered by Sriram, the song makes for good hearing nonetheless.

Onnappola - Shankar Mahadevan, Srilekha. Lyrics - Na.Muthukumar

A run-of-the-mill Hari song targeted at the masses. Nothing different to offer, will definitely depend on visuals to save itself. Another kuthu song from Shankar Mahadevan. Not much to write home about.

Hari and Yuvan tread the tried and tested path to give a passable album. That comes as a dampener for Surya's fans. Hope they make up for it in the movie.

Asin, the numero uno actress of the south, has flown from Chennai to Switzerland with her hero Surya to complete the shoot of Vel, a big release for Diwali 2007.

For Asin, the location of Switzerland is very special. Most of her hit films like Ghajini have at least a song or scene in Switzerland and the snow floors of Alps.

Now the actress is visiting the Alps once again for Vel.Director Hari has completed the talky portions of Vel in and around of Thirunelveli district where the story revolves around.

She briefed a select group from the media about her shooting experience in the greenwoods of southern Tamil Nadu at her Chennai residence.

Asin said: "I continuously travel to many parts of the country and some of the African countries like Namibia and South India as a part of my shooting. But the outdoor experience in Kutralam and Munnar imbibed me with a new energy and freshness. When we reached Munnar, it was raining heavily, and finally the shoot was cancelled. I simply enjoyed my two day break at the lovely hill station. I went out for a long walk and viewed the mist covered valley, a shimmering lake, and loved the awesome weather of the place. The breathtaking locations and panoramic views of the hill station made me write poems whenever I was alone…! Munnar trip was a big relief for me, and I plan to visit the place again after the completion of Vel and Ghajini!"

The actress also enjoyed a typical village life when she was in Kutralam. "I wore the typical South Indian Paavadai and Thaavani when I was in Kutralam. In fact, I mingled into the crowd wearing the village costume , and no one could identify me for a while. I enjoyed the scenic views of thundering waterfalls and famous food of the region, parotta with chicken saalna…"

Asin, and memories of her holidays!

Asin, the busy heroine of tinsel town, loves to occasionally go on a holiday spree.

This lovely lady, who is shooting for the Hindi Ghajini and also finishing up Vel along with Suriya, is excited about her recent trips.

Recently, she a brief stay at Munnar when the shooting was cancelled for two consecutive days because of heavy rain. She loved the hill station, its mountains and lush greenery, where nature is at its best.

The crew then moved to Kutralam where Asin, after immersing herself in its surroundings, tried going to the waterfalls. She put on a Pavadai- Dhavani, mixed casually in the crowd but in a while was recognised and mobbed, so she was forced to return.

Then she went to Zurich in Switzerland for a song-shoot for Vel. Asin's most favourite holiday spot is Switzerland, where she shot for the popular song 'Suttum Vizhi Sudare' in Ghajini.

And the best part is that besides enjoying nature, she pens her thoughts in the form of verses.

Asin, who has been on a tight schedule shooting for Vel and the Hindi version of Ghajini had had a terrific time at these holiday destinations, being close to nature, recharging herself.

She is now awaiting Vel, a Diwali release.

Asin’s flu stalls Vel shoots

She is the busiest lass in all of Bollywood and Kollywood. However, as it seems, it might just be wise for Asin to take a break from her backbreaking shoots. Overworking and a change in weather have resulted in poor health for Asin. Here is how. Asin was shooting for the Hindi Gajini in Namibia with Aamir Khan for the past 10 days for a duet.
The extremities in climate – scorching hot during days and freezing cold during nights – did not apparently go well with the petite beauty who caught with flu immediately.
However, Asin did not let the shooting halt owing to her sickness and went on to finish the shoots before reaching Chennai a couple of days ago where she had commitments for her upcoming project Vel with Surya. After reaching Chennai, Asin participated in the Independence Day special of an FM radio – of which she is a brand ambassador – where she complained of dizziness.
She immediately returned home where her mother, Dr. Celin, diagnosed Asin of having viral flu. She is under medical supervision and is advised to be in bed rest. Owing to this, her shoots for Vel have been cancelled and are expected to commence only after her regaining perfect fitness.

Asin whose career graph is on a very satisfying path is shuttling between two major projects- Vel in Tamil with Surya and the Hindi version of Gajini. The shooting of Vel sans Asin has already been completed when she was working in the Hindi film and currently Vel unit is busy capturing her part.

At the sets of Vel, Asin was spotted recounting a hair rising incident while she was shooting in South Africa for Hindi Gajini. She says, “When we were in South Africa, I visited a seal island near Cape Town and as I was feeding the seals, I saw a young man battling for his life in the ocean. As he was wearing heavy boots, he was not able to swim and the efforts of the person who went to rescue him also were in vain. I saw him getting drowned just in front of my eyes and dying. I was completely shaken up and the scene still torments me.”

As regards Hindi Gajini, she says they have completed two song sequences in Namibia where no Indian film has been shot till now. The weather is one of the extreme kinds where the days are very hot and the nights are extremely cold.

Asin is down with viral fever now. The young actress, who is shooting for Vel opposite Suriya in Chennai, was down with viral fever and as a result of which the shooting was canceled on Thursday. The actress from the God's Own Country is a popular name in Tamil cinema now. She is acting opposite Kamal Haasan in Dasavatharam and Vel, directed by Hari. Meanwhile, she returned after shooting for a song sequence with Aamir Khan in South Africa for the Hindi remake of Ghajini. Asin felt tired and was forced to leave the sets of Vel on Thursday after complaining giddiness. She was checked by doctors immediately and diagnosed of affected by viral fever.
